On May 23, 2025, SAIC-GM-Wuling held a ceremony at its production base in Indonesia, announcing that its 3 millionth global new energy vehicle and the first set of Shenlian batteries produced locally in Indonesia were simultaneously rolled off the production line.
Data shows that Wuling's new energy products have achieved a market share of 37% in Indonesia, and its cumulative sales volume ranks first in the local market. As the first Chinese automaker to achieve a full industrial chain layout in Indonesia, Wuling has established a complete system covering R&D, production, sales and supporting services. Currently, it has launched three new energy models including Air ev and BinguoEV, covering the mainstream consumption range in the local market.
From a technical perspective, the Shenlian battery produced this time adopts the "top-of-the-chip" safety technology. According to third-party tests, it remains stable even under a 40% compression deformation condition. This battery has achieved over 2 million units of installation in the domestic market. The establishment of this overseas production line marks the first systematic output of the core technologies of the "three-in-one" system. According to the company's disclosure, through the "vehicle + components" model, it has driven supply chain enterprises such as Guoxuan High-tech to enter Indonesia.
In terms of market layout, the company has established an overseas expansion model that combines vehicle exports, technology licensing, and local production. Its products are available in 104 countries and regions. In the ASEAN region, the company is focusing on implementing the "Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Integration" strategy. Models such as Hongguang MINIEV and Binju have successively entered the markets of Vietnam and Thailand. As of the time of publication, the company has not disclosed specific production capacity plans or timelines for new market expansion.
