The interior of the mass-production version ofthe MG Cyberster was officially unveiled in China. It has appeared to differslightly from the pre-production model that was shown in the UK. The Cybersterwill hit the Chinese market this year with 544 hp and a 3-secondzero-to-hundred acceleration time. And in 2024, it will make its market debutin the UK, priced at 55,000 – 65,000 GBP (70,460 – 83,300 USD).
Previously, we saw only the pre-production modelof the MG Cyberster that was shown to press and even test-driven. But themass-production model has a lightly updated interior design. At first sight, wecan see the biggest difference. The MG Cyberster now has a conventionalsteering wheel instead of the steering yoke. It seems that the steering yoke willbecome an extra option, while the steering wheel will go as standard. Speakingof the wheel itself, it has got three spokes and a flat bottom. It also has adrive mode selector and some additional shifters behind it. So, it basicallyhas similar functions as the steering yoke, but in a more conventional shape.
Aside from the wheel, we can also highlight thecolor of the interior. It is finished in red, while the pre-production versionhad a red-black-white color scheme. Pillars and roof are the only blackelements of the Cyberster’s interior. In our opinion, the new shade of redlooks just right. Speaking about the roof, we should mention that the MGCyberster mass-production version is a convertible, like the pre-productionmodel. On the door cards of the Cyberster, we can see seat adjustment buttons.
The screens of the MG Cyberster remained thesame. The driver has a total of three screens in front of him. They form acurved monitor that sits behind the steering wheel and looks quite nice. As forthe center tunnel, it was also untouched. It has a bunch of touch-sensitiveclimate-control buttons. Under these buttons, we can notice the gear selector, which is presented by some physical buttons. Moreover, you have two parkingbrake buttons in the car. The first one is located in the center tunnel, andthe second one sits on the left of the steering wheel. Back to the centertunnel, it has one more screen, roof control buttons and a pair of cup holders.
The MG Cyberster will be manufactured in Chinaby SAIC Group. It is a pretty large two-door roadster with dimensions of4535/1913/1329 mm and a wheelbase of 2690 mm. Its exterior is quite cool, withscissor doors and sporty bumpers. The entry-level Cyberster got an electricmotor for 314 hp on the rear axle. As for the top-trim level, it has 4WD, and acombined power output of 544 hp. The top speed of the Cyberster reaches 200km/h. According to the registration fillings, the Cyberster got two batteryoptions: for 64 kWh and 77 kWh for 501-580 km of range. This range number looksquite small, but MG couldn’t place a bigger battery here because of weight. The4WD Cyberster already weighs 1985 kg.
As mentioned, the MG Cyberster will hit theChinese market this year. According to rumors, its price tag will start from300,000 yuan (41,460 USD). On the other hand, it will hit the UK market in2024, with a starting price of 55,000 GBP (70,460 USD). The thing is the BMW Z4starts here from 44,490 GBP (57,000 USD), and the Porsche 718 Boxter startsfrom 55,420 GBP (70,960 USD). It means that the MG Cyberster will have anintense competition in this market. It will be really hard for it to competewith some equally priced or even more affordable petrol-powered roadsters fromthe Legacy brands. Anyway, we will keep an eye on the MG Cyberster, so staytuned!
