On September 8, the China Passenger Transport Association announced the August domestic automobile production and sales data. The passenger car market retail sales reached 1.453 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 14.7%, and a 7% decrease from August 2019, showing a weak growth rate.
Domestic consumption factors have little impact on the auto market retail, and the Nanjing epidemic in late July did not have a significant impact on the auto market in August. However, the intensification of the outbreak in Malaysia led to the sudden cut-off of supply of individual types of chips in August, which severely frustrated the confidence of domestic manufacturers and channels, and dealers with ultra-low inventories had weak retail sales at the end of August.
It is worth mentioning that Tesla China’s wholesale volume in August reached a new high again, with a monthly wholesale volume of 44,264 vehicles and 31,379 vehicles exported.
