The Passenger Association recently released the automobile export situation in the first half of the year. Data show that China exported 950,000 automobiles in the first half of 2021, an increase of 118% year-on-year. The core driving force for the growth of the export market is still the growth space of passenger vehicles, especially in the Middle East and Africa and other countries with relatively strong export performance.
In recent years, my country's automobile export situation has been good. In 2019, 1.22 million vehicles were exported. In 2020, the export volume affected by the new crown epidemic dropped by 13% year-on-year to only 1.06 million vehicles. In the first half of 2021, the export volume of complete vehicles will be 950,000, which has doubled from the low base of the same period last year. The Federation of Passenger Transport Association predicts that the export volume of vehicles in 2021 is expected to exceed 1.8 million.
China's vehicle export markets are mainly Asia, South America, and Europe. Among them, Asian auto exports accounted for 34%, South America and Europe both accounted for 20%, and Africa accounted for 10%. The main vehicle exports this year are mainly Chile, Saudi Arabia, Australia and other markets. The Russian market, Sweden and Australia have relatively strong performance.
The surge in demand for new energy vehicles in overseas markets such as Europe in the past two years has also contributed to the export of new energy vehicles in China. In the first half of 2021, domestic new energy exports totaled 88,000 vehicles, accounting for 10% of total exports. Among them, European exports reached 79,600 vehicles. SAIC MG is the brand with the most new energy vehicle exports.
New energy vehicles will also be exported to a certain extent from 2017 to 2019, but the passenger vehicles at that time were basically micro low-speed electric vehicles, and the plug-in hybrid models exported in 2020 should also be re-sold products of the joint venture.
In the first half of this year, new energy passenger vehicles accounted for 75%. Secondly, new energy truck exports accounted for 19%, new energy passenger vehicle exports accounted for 2%, and the other 5% are new energy special vehicles.
